What is it? Contest by Rain Design – Winners Announced
Three Product Winners AnnouncedPrize: Rain Design iWooferMost Accurate Description? I’ll try.It is: – an iPod dock with speakers and lights – seen from below – facing right (in the picture) – approximately 5 inches in diameter – iPod’s signature white and silver colors – meant to showcase the iPod, like many of Rain’s other products are designed to showcase Apple productsIt has: – four legs to elevate it about 1 inch. – four blue LEDs to create a cool under-glow effect – some similarities to JBL’s OnStage, except better – a port on the back (left in picture) for computer-to-iPod cable – volume controlsIt does not have: – bluetooth – a remoteIt’s a simple iPod docking/speaker station that allows the iPod to play music through the built-in speakers, sync to a computer, and charge its battery. The iPod sits on top, allowing full access to its menus and music. And the ambient blue glow from beneath gives it a sleek futuristic look.By jays1n on 12.20.05 at 03:09 PMIts a speaker system for the ipod viewed from the underneath. The blue light is projected onto whatever surface it is placed on and may dim in and out or change colors while playing music or synching with itunes. Has four metalic legs and the controls are on the left side of the image in between the 2 metalic circles which are speakers. The black center is the sub-woofer. Charges, syncs, docks, and plays the ipod.By Adam Fenty on 12.09.05 at 12:19 AMAs the compnay mainly produces stands, it would be probable that its first product for the iPod is also a stand. It’s in the shape of a ball, and then it has four legs underneath, and you stick the iPod into the dock on top (in the middle – so it sticks up). But that’s obvious. It is also a powerful speaker system with a built-in sub-woofer. We see the air-intake on the lefthand side, and the big, dark area in the middle is the subwoofer element, probably a 6? or 8?. It will be awesome, and I can’t wait to get my hands on one.By Victor Solberg on 12.18.05 at 04:53 AMThree Bonus Prize Winners AnnouncedPrize: Rain Design ergonomic wrist rest and mousepad – iRest.Fools! ONLY!!! $19.99 (battery pack-$19,999.99) (battery replacement service-$19,992.98)By Miranda Kali on 12.08.05 at 12:47 PMThis ipod dock is not just any ordinary dock, as you can tell from every ones guesses. This iPod dock, has a motorized docking door system. Just place your iPod on the white pad, located on the side, and hidden doors will come out and wrap around the iPod docking it for you. But thats not all this little puppy can do. Not only can this device recharge and sync your dock-able iPod, it can also use its two built in speakers to fill, your room with music. But what if you have the Apple Express Base Station with AirTunes, it will allow you to connect to your Wi Fi base station, to broad cast your music through out your house. Or if you have a pare of Bluetooth enabled headset, the base station will also connect to those for personal use. The system has four blue LED’s that indicate the systems status; Power/charging, data syncing, audio broadcasting, and VC. VC? What the heck is VC, you may ask your self. Well with all this functionality, comes the simplicity of only one button. Thats right only ONE button, that simply turns the device on and off. But you control every function of this device via Voice Command. Just say the name of your iPod when its docked, and then speak what you want the dock to do, and it will do it.So just when you thought that, they went to the extent of iPod technology, they make something even better.By Nathan on 12.11.05 at 02:22 PMTo me, it looks like its the bottom of a speaker system that would be in the shape of a rain drop when you looked at it straight on. The system looks held up on four legs, which give it support to sit on a surface. An ipod, probably the new video ipod will be able to dock on the top of the rain drop, and play music through the speakers on the sides and the subwoofer on the bottom. On the side bottom of the rain drop there will be a usb port and variuos other ports such as audio and video which will allow you to connect it to any t.v. device. I think the blue lights on the bottom of the drop will flash to the beat and rhythm of the music producing an underglow affect on whatever surface the rain drop is placed.By harry s. on 12.13.05 at 04:45 PMUse your imagination. Rain Design announces iWoofer for iPods
ppt: I do. NPR, indie stations, and the abilitiy to catch a ballgame or weather report still make radio a worthwhile feature, even for a device primarily built around the iPod. However, I got the iH5 for Christmas, so I don t need this. = ) Posted by Hrothgar on December 29, 2005 at 1:02 PM (PDT)

Mix: iPod Express, AFI, 2006 predictions, Price drops
Ryan – I don t think it s completely outside the realm of possibilities to see an update to the video iPod at all in Q1 06 – with the overwhelming – and slightly unexpected success – of video downloads from iTunes, not to mention all the people ripping their own DVDs for upload to the iPod, I would think that Apple may be ready to test the market w/a larger HDD version, i.e. an 80GB video iPod Posted by redsoxnation on December 29, 2005 at 12:06 PM (PDT)
iPod tops brand survey
Apple s iPod ranks as the top brand in the eyes of Americans, according to a conducted by Landor Associates, a leading branding and design consultancy, and research firm Penn, Schoen Berland. The 2005 ImagePower Newsmaker Brands Survey examines Americans attitude toward the top brands. Four Internet brands (Google, eBay, Amazon.com and Yahoo!) are among the top 10 winning brands in 2005, while the iPod brand earned the No. 1 overall spot.
